Unit 1 Great Scientists---Reading
Step1 Fast reading
1. What’s the main idea of the text? A. John Snow was a well-known doctor in London. B. The cause of cholera was polluted water. C. All the food and water are dirty. D. How did John Snow collect, analyze and find the cause of the disease and solve the problem.
2. Why was cholera called “ king cholera”? A. Cholera caused many deaths.  B. Cholera was the most deadly disease of its day. C. It was defeated with the help of the king. D. It has the same name as the king.
Step2 Careful reading 
Para.1 Find a problem. John Snow was an                 doctor in London who_________ Queen Victoria as her personal                   . He thought about helping ordinary people _______   to cholera. Though the cause and the _____of it were unknown, he wanted to face the_________ and solve the problem.

Marie Curies, born in Poland in 1876, led a hard life as a girl. Her parents, both teachers, had small salaries and were quite poor, especially after her mother stopped teaching to raise five children and take care of her poor health. Marie's mother died when Marie was ten. 
    When Marie was small, she showed great interest in science. She loved to study and hoped to become a scientist when she grew up. But her poor family couldn’t afford the fee to study any more. How could she study was a question in her mind.
    In order to continue her education, she smoothed away many difficulties and entered Paris University, where she lived a simple life and studied hard, so she graduated with the highest grades in her class. She did part time jobs and eat easy food.
    After graduation she was engaged in scientific research in Paris University. There she joined her research into an unknown phenomenon “radiation”. The Curies spent several years trying their best to find the element that produced radiation. Finally they succeeded in 1902.
    Marie Curie won two Nobel Prizes, one for physics in 1906, together with her husband; the other for chemistry herself in 1911. Madame Curie was a scientist of great achievement, and the first woman ever to be honored in the Nobel Prize history.

                          教學效果反思及補救措施
教學反思如下;
首先,課程設計基本符合閱讀課的教學流程,邏輯清楚,環環相扣,還融合了聯想教學和發散思維,能夠讓學生較為清晰地明確學習目標和中心思想。
其次,學生表現活躍,能夠積極配合老師。對所學知識比較感興趣,而且能夠高效參與課堂。
值得改進的地方:
     首先,老師給予學生閱讀的時間相對較短,有些急于求成,導致個別學生沒有挖掘到該文章的流程結構,應該鋪墊更多的時間去思索。
     其次,該課屬于科學探究,過程比較復雜。如果加入思維導圖,讓學生通過自己動手標注和感知探究會更為直觀感受科學家的探索過程。
最后,情感升華的部分,如果能讓學生各抒己見的機會留足夠的空間,教學的熱度可能會更高。教學的輸出會更飽滿一些。
因此在今后的教學中一定要強化師生互動的環節,讓學生更有發言權和主人翁意識。打造多讀多思多看多言的課堂。我也將繼續努力。
