內(nèi)容分析: 本篇課文節(jié)選自著名短篇小說家歐·亨利的作品《二十年之后》，小說講述了兩位好友相約二十年后見面的故事，所節(jié)選的內(nèi)容呈現(xiàn)了主人公在約定的時間和地點等待重逢的場景。
教學(xué)目標(biāo)：
在節(jié)課學(xué)習(xí)結(jié)束時，學(xué)生能夠：

1. 理解課文內(nèi)容，明確故事中的人物形象和特點，評價人物的行為；
2. 初步掌握小說類文體的基本特征和常見的閱讀方法，了解歐·亨利小說的主題和結(jié)尾特點；
3. 基于已有信息發(fā)揮想象，表演故事；
4. 聯(lián)系自身實際，辯證思考，樹立正確的友情觀。

教學(xué)重點：
1.     帶領(lǐng)學(xué)生理清故事情節(jié)，把握小說的基本特征；
2.     引導(dǎo)學(xué)生深入理解友誼的內(nèi)涵和意義，樹立正確的友情觀。
教學(xué)難點：
1.     幫助學(xué)生在理解文本內(nèi)容的基礎(chǔ)上，想出“歐亨利式的結(jié)尾”；
2.     引導(dǎo)學(xué)生基于已有信息發(fā)揮想象建構(gòu)故事并感受歐式結(jié)尾的“意料之外，情理之中”。

Activity 1     5m	Teacher asks two questions to lead in. Teacher invites a student to read the short introduction to O. Henry and others find out the information needed. Teacher invites some students to give answers in full sentences.	Students share their information about O. Henry. Students listen to the introduction and complete the table. Some students give answers. (Together for easy ones & individual for difficult ones)	To know some information about the author and accumulate literary knowledge.
Activity 2     5m	Teacher asks students to read the introductory part and together find out the information about “where/when/who” Teacher asks students some questions. Teacher presents the picture and let students predict.	Students read the  introductory part  and find out  the information about “where/when/who” Students answer the questions.	To grasp the setting and character relationships of the story.
Activity 3         10m	Teacher asks students to read the first sentence to explain the way of narrating “flashback” Teacher asks the students to read the excerpts and organize the plot in order of time. Teacher invites students to share the answers	Students read the first sentence and think about the way of telling stories. Students read the story excerpts and complete the tasks on their handouts. Students share their answers.	To understand the plot in order of time and Bob’s feelings.
Activity 4   5m	Teacher asks students to work in pairs and think of the possible ending to “After Twenty Years” with the help of the two questions. Teacher asks students to read the original ending and say how would Bob react.	Students discuss about it and express their ideas. Students read the original ending, conclude what exactly happened and guess Bob’s possible reaction.	To practice the ability of predicting based on the information they know and make a conclusion.
Activity 5     10m	Teacher asks students to imagine what may have happened to Bob and Jimmy during the 20 years. Teacher asks students to prepare in groups(G1-4 Bob&G5-8 Jimmy). Teacher asks students to discuss and present possible answers.	Students discuss about it and prepare with the help of the questions on the handouts. Students present their possible answers.	To be familiar with the plot and experience the feelings of the characters. To improve the speaking skill and reasoning ability.
Activity 6   5m	Teacher gives comments on students’ performance. Teacher asks students to make their own choice.	Students express their opinions about law and friendship.	To practice critical thinking and understand O. Henry’s ending is surprising but reasonable.
