一、教學(xué)目標(biāo) 
According to the new English curriculum Standard , students should develop core competence of English subject. 
language ability aims:

In the rice-growing world, the Chinese scientist, Yuan Long ping, is a leading figure. 
As a result of Yuan Long ping’s discoveries ,Chinese rice production rose by 47.5 percent in the 1990’s 3 Encourage students to describe a person after learning the structure of the reading passage.   Cultural awareness aim: 
Help the students to learn how to talk about Yuan Long ping and his achievements  Thinking quality aims: 
1Develop the abilities of getting information and the students’ reading skills, e.g. skimming and scanning 2. Learn to describe and write a person according to the given information.  Learning ability aim: 
1 Develop the students’ sense of cooperation 2 Learn some good spirit from the great scientist   
二、教學(xué)內(nèi)容整體分析 
本單元的中心話題是：“偉大的科學(xué)家”（Great Scientists）教材通過講述多個(gè)科學(xué)家的個(gè)人事跡，增強(qiáng)學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)興趣，激發(fā)學(xué)生對(duì)科學(xué)的學(xué)習(xí)動(dòng)機(jī)，學(xué)習(xí)科學(xué)家的堅(jiān)持不懈，努力鉆研的精神。而所選取的“閱讀”（Reading）部分主要講述了我國科學(xué)家袁隆平的生平故事，偉大理想，雜交水稻實(shí)驗(yàn)過程，主要貢獻(xiàn)及對(duì)中西方的深遠(yuǎn)影響。 
   
 
                    
             
                    
                              
三、學(xué)情分析 
Students have previewed the text and have a basic understanding of important words and phrases.  Students have got some reading skills such as finding the main ideas and detailed information.  They are willing to cooperate with teammates and eager to learn something new about scientists.  
 
四、教學(xué)策略選擇與設(shè)計(jì) 
通過ppt圖片展示和視頻結(jié)合任務(wù)型教學(xué)模式，激發(fā)學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)主動(dòng)性和積極性。 問題解決教學(xué)模式，讓學(xué)生自主探索教師和學(xué)生自己提出的問題，最終解決問題。

1. Enable the students to master the target language. 
2. Help the students to read the text by using reading skills. 3. Understand the importance of Yuan Long ping’s achievements. Teaching difficult points: 
1. Enable the students to know and talk about what made Yuan a great scientist.  2. Master the reading skills to get information and solve the problems. 3. Describe a person after learning the passage of Yuan Long ping.

personal life and achievement and remark.   Show students some good expressions about every part.  
4.Make student have oral work (describe another famous Chinese scientist Tu Youyou )  
 Encourage students to speak. 
 The member who presents in class can  Get 30 points for the class.    
Task 4 Summarize what has been learnt in this class 
    
Students discuss in groups and make notes of their answers.       
Students prepare in groups and volunteer to give oral summary.
