教材分析： 
本單元的話題（topic）是神秘事件（Mysteries），要求學(xué)生能根據(jù)相關(guān)信息正確運(yùn)用must, might, could, 和can’t進(jìn)行推斷。Section A 部分主要圍繞“推測物品的歸屬展開”，并進(jìn)一步引入“神秘事件”這一話題。Section B部分內(nèi)容通過對(duì)疑似外星人事件的討論逐步過渡到對(duì)巨石陣的介紹，語言輸入量較大。這篇關(guān)于巨石陣的說明文涉及了英國文化以及一些含有連接詞的復(fù)雜句子，需要引導(dǎo)學(xué)生在上下文語境中體會(huì)語言表達(dá)的確切含義。 
 
學(xué)情分析： 
九年級(jí)學(xué)生已經(jīng)有了一定的英語基礎(chǔ)，聽說讀寫的能力都比較強(qiáng)。該班學(xué)生對(duì)Section A 部分的知識(shí)掌握情況較好，所以本節(jié)課將進(jìn)一步鞏固和拓展情態(tài)動(dòng)詞表推測的用法以及連詞的正確應(yīng)用。但是學(xué)生對(duì)于長難文章的閱讀能力一般，本堂課就此情況對(duì)學(xué)生加以技巧的指導(dǎo)，有針對(duì)性地提高學(xué)生英語閱讀水平。 
 
教學(xué)設(shè)計(jì)思路： 
本節(jié)課，一條主線，三個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)。本節(jié)課貫穿的主線是“未解之謎”。首先，通過觀看視頻，學(xué)生會(huì)了解這個(gè)介紹世界未解之謎的節(jié)目Discovery，接著設(shè)計(jì)了一個(gè)比賽活動(dòng)，激起學(xué)生參與課堂活動(dòng)的興趣。本節(jié)課的環(huán)節(jié)主要分為三個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)，每一個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)在設(shè)置了相應(yīng)的學(xué)習(xí)活動(dòng)。Step one-Talk about the mysterious thing 趣味猜測，引人入勝。Step two- Walk into the mysterious place預(yù)測文章，泛讀精讀，環(huán)環(huán)相扣。Step three -- Know about the mysterious world 給學(xué)生充分展示自我的舞臺(tái)，同時(shí)培養(yǎng)了學(xué)生的探索精神。

Teaching aims:

1.get relative information while reading, such as the detail of a passage; 2.Make inferences by using must, might, could and can’t.

Teaching procedures: 
Step One -- Talk about the mysterious thing ★Activity1  Guess what it might be.  
★Activity2  Guess what might happen after that. 
Ask the students to guess the things by using must/ might/ could/ can’t  [Explanation] 緊扣本單元話題“Mysteries”，及功能“Make inferences”復(fù)習(xí)情態(tài)動(dòng)詞must/ might/ could/ can’t 的用法。  
Step Two -- Walk into the mysterious place 
★Activity1  Watch the video then answer questions. 
1. What is it? 
2. Was it difficult for ancient people to build it? 
It is not only a historical place but alsoa mystery.

復(fù)習(xí)導(dǎo)入后，讓學(xué)生觀看視頻，初步了解巨石陣的相關(guān)背景知識(shí)，激發(fā)學(xué)生去了解它的興趣，同時(shí)用連詞詞組成句子，引出連詞。
