Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.It’s my great honor to stand here to share my teaching ideas with you.Today I’m going to talk about the reading of Unit 8 on page 62. In order to make it clear, I will prepare to begin my lesson form following parts. Part I.Teaching material 1.Status and function 
The topic of this unit is about literature and music. Such a topic is related to our daily life, so it’s easy to arouse students’ learning interests. As we all know, reading has a great effect on speaking and writing. Therefore this lesson is in the important position of the teaching material. 2.Teaching objectives Knowledge objectives 
a).To understand the content of the passage. b).To understand present perfect. Ability objectives 
a).To improve reading and writing abilities.  b).To develop the ability of summarizing. Emotional attitudes and moral values a).To develop interests in country music. b).To know more about American culture. 3.Teaching important and difficult points  
a).The important point is using the reading strategies while reading and get the ideas about the passage. 
b).The difficult points are retell and summary. 4.The analysis of students 
 
                           
                  
                           
                            For grade 8 students, they have mastered enough knowledge both in vocabulary and reading skills, it’ll be helpful for them to understand the passage.    
Part II.Teaching procedures  Step 1:Warming-up 
Watch a video:Taylor Swift---never grow up    
設(shè)計意圖：通過播放一首現(xiàn)在流行的鄉(xiāng)村音樂的視頻，作為本節(jié)課的課前熱身。 Step 2 :Leading-in 
T:Do you know the singer?Have you ever heard this song?She is a famous country music singer.(T show the profile of Taylor Swift.)Now,I want to know something about your favorite singer.You can discuss these questions with your partner and then show your answers to us.   ①.Who is your favorite singer?   ②.What is your favorite song? 
  ③.What do you know about the singer or the song? 
Ss:My favorite singer is ...I like the song...best.The song is about .../The singer is ... 
T:Most of you like pop music or rock.In this class,we will learn something another kind of music. 設(shè)計意圖：教師先介紹一名鄉(xiāng)村音樂歌手，這位歌手也是因?yàn)閷︵l(xiāng)村音樂的熱愛，而成為了鄉(xiāng)村音樂歌手，從而引入本節(jié)課的話題。 Step 3:Predicting 
T:The title of the passage is very helpful.Let’s look at the title of this passage,can you guess what the passage is about?

T:So this passage is about a girl and country music.This is the girl and her name is Sarah.What is she doing in the picture?(T show the picture of Sarah.) Ss:She is playing the guitar. 
T:That’s right.Let’s read the passage and learn more information about her. 設(shè)計意圖：在閱讀之前，可以通過對文章的標(biāo)題和圖片猜測，來預(yù)知本文的內(nèi)容。 Step 4:While-reading 
I.Skimming 
T:Read the passage quickly and find the main idea of each paragraphs.Remember:main ideas are usually the first sentence or the last sentence.    Para 1      What is Sarah’s dream?    Para 2      Who is Sarah?    Para 3      What is country music? 
設(shè)計意圖：快速瀏覽文章，找出文章的段落大意。教師在學(xué)生閱讀之前，可以講授閱讀技巧，即段落大意一般在第一句或最后一句。 
II.Careful reading. 
1.Read Para 1 and underline the main idea.Use the main idea to answer the questions.   ①.Who is Sarah?   ②.Where is she from?   ③.What does she like?

After reading,T can make a mind map for Ss to understand better. Mind-map of Para 1.

3.Read Para 3 and underline the main idea.Use the main idea to answer the questions.     ①.What is Sarah’s dream? 
  ②.Who is Garth Brooks? (PPT shows the background of Garth Brooks.) Mind-map of Para 3.

設(shè)計意圖：在復(fù)述文章的環(huán)節(jié)，還是采用閱讀時劃分的小組，每兩小組復(fù)述一段。小組之間復(fù)述之后可以進(jìn)行比較，教師綜合較好的復(fù)述進(jìn)行展示。作為口頭輸出，復(fù)述短文可以幫助學(xué)生更好的理解語篇。          Step 6:Writing   
T:Just now we have retold the passage.Now you have to write a summary of the passage.You can use the information in the mind-map.Remember,write no more than 100 words. 
設(shè)計意圖：通過寫作，達(dá)到筆頭輸出。在經(jīng)過口頭輸出的復(fù)述之后，學(xué)生對縮寫已有一定的思路。 
Step 7:Summary
