1a Possible endings 
 We have talked about the beginning and the development of the story. From the development, what do you think of power, money or fame? Can they make people completely happy? Ss: No. 
Then what can make people really happy? Is the shirt of a happy man? 
It’s time for us to know the ending of the story. 
Before the real ending is shown to you, we’ll talk about the possible endings. 
Of course, every student can have your own ideas. Let’s read the possible endings in 1a. (預(yù)設(shè)評(píng)價(jià)： 
1 You prefer stories with happy endings. 2 Not every story has happy endings 3 It’s nice of you to give us your opinion. 4 Your opinion is quite different.)

1 Prediction: 
You are so creative students to give us your possible endings. 
Is the real ending the same as we read just now, or is it similar to your endings? 
Let’s look at the picture . One is general, the other one is a poor man. Is he the happy man the general needs? Look at the smile on his face, guess why he is happy? (預(yù)設(shè)評(píng)價(jià)： 
1 What a bright idea! 
2 Good point! I really enjoy it! 3 Is it good? I think it’s logical! 4 That’s a fantastic ending, isn’t it? 5 Try again! I’m sure you can do it!)

From the sentences, we know the general found the happy man. Now let’s focus on the details of the ending. 
Here are some questions, read them together. 
Though they are long questions, I think you just focus on When? What? Why?

聽(tīng)前預(yù)測(cè)：讓學(xué)生猜測(cè)為什么這個(gè)poor man那么快樂(lè)，通過(guò)想象來(lái)給出符合邏輯的回答，既鍛煉了學(xué)生的思維品質(zhì)，同時(shí)也能練習(xí)口語(yǔ)表達(dá)。 同時(shí)給出長(zhǎng)難句型，為學(xué)生后面的聽(tīng)力掃清障礙。       
通過(guò)第一遍聽(tīng)力，讓學(xué)生大致了解文章信息。     
在第二遍聽(tīng)力前強(qiáng)調(diào)學(xué)生可以將長(zhǎng)問(wèn)句概括為When,

1. Read and imitate 
Since we have known the ending of the story, I need you to read it as well as the tape. First of all, let’s read after the tape to imitate. Second, it’s your turn to read it. 
(Read after the tape sentence by sentence.)

(Read it by yourselves.)

2. Thinking and talking 
After reading the ending of the story, we have learnt a lot from it.  
(1)From the ending, the writer wants to tell us that happiness lies in a _peaceful_heart. 
(2)In the story we’ve discovered the king was a king of the _real___world . The poor man was a king of the _spiritual__ world.(此處板書(shū)) (3)  What do you think of happiness? 
在跟讀環(huán)節(jié)中，請(qǐng)學(xué)生注意模仿語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào)，尤其注意紅色句子的讀音，帶著確信，疑惑，快樂(lè)，自信的語(yǔ)氣進(jìn)行模仿朗讀。
