--- Integrated skills(教學設(shè)計) I. Background information
Analysis of teaching material: The teaching material is about the amazing things in the world. Students have known a lot about amazing things around the world through the lessons we learned before. However, this lesson will ask students to learn more amazing things about animals and amazing people in the world through listening. At the same time, students are expected to learn how to do reasonable reacts when they meet some amazing things.
Analysis of students: Students in Grade 7 have certain basic English knowledge. They also know some certain listening skills. So it’s not difficult for them to understand the general idea of the listening materials and know how to make a report. What’s more, students in Grade7 like to be challenged so as to keep motivated and maintain interest in class.

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. deduce and understand meanings of new words and phrases like “live without water; hear of” from the context. 2. get the information from listening materials to finish the notes and know how to describe amazing things;
3. cooperate with others through different activities in the form of pair work and group work.
4. know ordinary people can also do amazing things if they practice hard. 5. get the idea of “practice makes amazing.”.

Step 1 Lead-in
Enjoy a video.
Question: What animals did she see in the animal fair?
T: My friend Suzy is afraid of animals. But she watched an animal fair the other day, she is not afraid of these animals? Do you want to watch it?
【Purpose】
Use a video to create a relaxing atmosphere.
The video helps to attract students to the topic easily and stimulate their interests
and curiosity in the topic.
The video can help students review the names of animals they learned in this unit.
Step 2 Talk about animals
Learn the new words and talk about the amazing things of these animals. T: After watching the animal fair, Suzy has learned a lot of amazing things about animals. Do you know about them? 1. Ant

【Purpose】
Show the new words and important phrases to students by free talk.

Step 3:Amazing animals (A1&A2&A3)
T: We have learned lots of animals. Now can you give me the order of the four pictures.(A1)
T: Suzy’s teacher Mr Wu also told her something about animals. Now listen and fill in the blanks.(A2)
T: After listening, Suzy has learned a lot. She wrote a letter to Mr Wu. Can you help her finish the letter according to the listening.(A3)

【Purpose】
Master these amazing things of animals and strengthen the phrases we learned
from listening
Master some listening skills, such as: guessing before listening; guessing the
answer from the context; write the key words first during the listening.
Learn to use the sentence patterns like “I was surprised to know that...” when
they want to describe the amazing things.
Know how to express amazing things clearly and fluently and learn to do
reasonable reacts when meeting amazing things.
Step 4:Pair work
Talk about amazing animals with your partner.
A: Which animal do you think is amazing? B: … is amazing. I am surprised to know that… What about you? A: I think …is amazing... It’s interesting/amazing that….
T: Can we judge which animal is the best? S: No. They are all amazing.
【Purpose】
Practice these sentence patterns in the dialogue again and improve their oral English.
Students can discuss with their friends and make up a dialogue by group
cooperative learning.
Step 5:Listening

本課的內(nèi)容是讓學生們掌握世界上的有許多令人驚訝的人和動物,并讓學生能對這些驚訝的事情做出合理的反應。本課的設(shè)計我主要分為兩個部分:令人感到驚奇的動物和令人感到驚奇的人。在文章的導入上,我以我的好朋友Suzy的故事進行導入并且貫穿整節(jié)課。本課的明線為:Suzy在開始的時候害怕動物,但是在看了一場動物園的表演后不再害怕動物了而是樂于學習動物世界當中一些令人感到驚奇的事情。之后她又了解到人們也可以做許多驚奇的事,并且我們身邊的人也可以做一些驚奇的事。最后她了解了這些事情之后準備舉辦一場才藝表演對整節(jié)課的內(nèi)容加以總結(jié)。本課的暗線就是通過不斷的深入思考,讓學生們明白動物身上有許多優(yōu)秀的品質(zhì)。我們普通人也可以做許多了不起的事,只要不斷的堅持和努力。從而對本節(jié)課的主旨 Practice makes perfect 進行點題。本課加強聽力技巧的練習,在處理Speak up 時采取的是中考的聽力模式,并且添加了兩個額外的聽力練習。一個是看視頻回答問題。一個是錄制了自己學校老師和學生可以做到的一些令人感到驚奇的事情進行練習。形式新穎,操練豐富,容易引起學生的學習興趣。
