A Goldfish Step 1 Lead-in 1. Free talk.
T: What day is it today ? Are you happy? Why? What do you do at weekends?
(Ask some students to answer the questions.) 2. Listen to a song about animals. Step 2 Presentation A guessing game.
T: What animal is it? Look at the the part of the pictures. Can you use some words to describe it? (Teach new words: fur, paw) Step 3 Practice Pair work
S1: Which is your favourite pet ? Can you tell me why ? S2: I like my________ because ___________.
Step 4 Presentation
Show some pictures about goldfish, teach new words and phrases: noise, fur, paw, weigh, gram, weigh up to, grow up to be. Step 5 Listening 1. Part A1.
T: Peter is listening to a talk on goldfish and writing down some notes. Listen to the talk and help him check his notes below. Write a T if a sentence is true or an F if it is false. 2. Part A2.
T: Peter recorded the talk. Listen again and help him prepare a fact sheet about goldfish with the correct information.
T: Read the sentences one by one. Let’s check who has the best memory. 3. PartA3.
T: After the talk, Peter calls Amy to tell her about goldfish. Complete Peter’s answers with the help of the information on Page 99. B Speak up Step 6 Lead-in
1. T: Watch a video and answer the question: Why does the dog left his home? How to look after your pet? 2. Listen and complete the table.
3. Read after the tape, pay attention to pronunciation and intonation.\ 4. Read and fill in the blanks. Step 7 Practice
1. Make up a similar dialogue.
T: Work in pairs to talk about pet care. Use the conversation on the screen as a model.
2. Act the dialogue out. 3. Group work.
T: Work in groups and choose a pet as your group pet. Please design a poster and teach people how to look after it. 4. Emotion education.
T: Listen to a song and make a conclusion.
T: Remember: Animals are our friends, we should love animals and make friends with them. We should try our best to protect them. Step 8. Homework 1. Finish exercises 2. preview unit 8 Task.
