It's on the last Thursday of November. What do people usually do at Thanksgiving Day? They usually gather together for a big meal. They usually eat turkey and pumpkin pie.

Teaching Procedures 
I. Warmer/Revision  
1. Greeting. 
2. Sing an English song. 3. Revision about festivals. 
   Have students look at the pictures on the PPT and guess what festival it is. II. The presentation of the new material  
1. Guessing game: Show a riddle to introduce the topic "Thanksgiving Day". 2. Listen to the text carefully to know more about Thanksgiving Day. 
3. Group work: Have students read the text, circle the new words and ask the questions by themselves. 
4. Teach the new words one by one. And then write down the questions they asked on the blackboard.  
5. Have other students answer the questions on the board.  6. Ask and answer the questions with the students. III.  Practice  
1. Show more questions about Thanksgiving Day. 2. Have a group work to talk about these questions. 
3. Have students answer the questions and show the video to know how the native Americans helped the new settlers grow food. 
4. Have students talk about the topic "If you were the new settler, what will you say

5. Introduce the key point "Thank you for doing sth" and have students make sentences. 
6. Have a group work to talk about more festivals. 7. Show time. IV． Consolidation  
Share the feelings about the festivals: 
Although we have different festivals, the feelings behind these festivals are the same. Through these festivals, we can know each other closer and deeper.

優(yōu)點(diǎn)：1. 注重學(xué)生提問(wèn)能力的培養(yǎng)，學(xué)生樂(lè)于思考，積極應(yīng)答。  2. Group work 環(huán)節(jié)，學(xué)生任務(wù)具體，參與性高，調(diào)動(dòng)了學(xué)習(xí)積極性。  3. 課堂指令清晰，環(huán)節(jié)銜接自然，循序漸進(jìn)，師生配合默契。 
     4. 培養(yǎng)學(xué)生自主學(xué)習(xí)能力，自己圈生詞，老師只起幫扶引導(dǎo)的作用。  
     不足：1. 引課時(shí)如果能在談?wù)摴?jié)日時(shí)，再豐富些問(wèn)題會(huì)更好。2. 拓展問(wèn)題      時(shí)如果能介紹下更具體的感恩節(jié)來(lái)源的故事會(huì)更加滿足學(xué)生的好奇心。
