1) Make students grasp the types and the structures of the subjunctive mood  2) Learn how to use them and practice to get familiar with the grammar  
3) In different teaching activities, make students realize the importance of time, to make good use of money and let them be aware of their responsibilities for their city and the environment.  
4) In the class, some famous people are introduced to the students, making them learn not only from their success but also make them know that we can learn from others through their failures and mistakes.  重 點(diǎn) The emphasis should be put on how to use the grammar in the students’ daily life

Step1   Lead-in 
1. Play a game with students and ask them to guess who he is.    If I worked hard, I would have money.    If I had money, I could buy a ticket.           
  If I hadn’t won the ticket, I wouldn’t have been on board.    If I hadn’t been on board, I wouldn’t have met her.    If I hadn’t met her, we wouldn’t have fallen in love.     
  If I were alive, I would marry her some day.  
  If I were to/should marry/married her, we would live a happy life in the future.  
2. Ask the students the question to help them understand the function of the grammar.  
Q: Did what Jack said really happen?  
T: When we talk about something unreal or something which is unlikely to be true, we use the grammar ---- the subjunctive mood.  Step 2  Discover and explore  
1. Ask students to watch the sentences and draw a conclusion about the types and structures of the subjunctive mood and then fill in the form.   If-clause (if從句) Main sentence (主句) Past    Present    Future  
 
 
2. Tell them some guesses are invited to help them practice the grammar.   
The students can have a guess and give their answers voluntarily.  教師點(diǎn)撥 
Tell the students the meaning of the grammar by asking the question.        ask students to work in pairs  and have a discussion about the types and structures of the grammar.  Ask students to Arouse the students’ interest in the grammar and make the 
students understand the function of the grammar.

Step 3  Practice and consolidation   
1. According to different types, give students some sentences to complete by using the grammar.  Task 1 The past subjunctive  
Leonardo DiCaprio ---- If he __________ (give) up his efforts, he ______________ (not, win) the Oscar for best actor.  
Piao Jinhui ---- If she ______________ (not, abuse) her power, she __________________________ (not, put) into prison.  
Chinese national football team ---- If they ______ (win) the game, they _______________ (not, realize) there was still room to improve.   
Group work: Tom has just got fired. Describe the pictures by using the past subjunctive mood.  
T: Work hard but don’t be afraid of failure.  
  Treat failure in a positive way and you will learn a lot.  
  Try not to make mistakes because even small mistakes can result in serious disasters.      
Task 2 The present subjunctive mood  Jim Croce ---- Time in a bottle  
If I __________ (save) time in a bottle The first thing that I'd like to do 
Is to save every day till eternity passes away Just to spend them with you

And then again I ___________ (spend) them with you  You students – Fire drills  
  Fire drills are important for the safety of everyone in the school. If there _______ (be) a real fire, how _______ we _______ (know) what to do? If we ___________ (not, practice), everyone ______probably ______ (panic) in a real situation and start running and pushing one another.  Group work: Have a discussion  
If I had a lot of money, I could …because … T: Time is limited so make full use of time.  
  Life is also important so get to know more knowledge about first aid.  
  Money is important so try to be the master of money.  
talk about the person in the picture and complete the sentences.  
They can give the sentences voluntarily and are asked to repeat if necessary.  Group work:  Ask them to tell a story about Tom according to the pictures.      
Listen to the song and ask the students to fill in the blanks.  Free talk: Ask them what they can learn from the song.    
Ask students to read the short passage and give the missing 
words together.   Have a discussion and ask the students to write down three things on their paper.  Show a video about the tower and By giving 
some examples close to the students’ daily life, they can learn and use the grammar with great interest, which can also enlarge their horizons.   
Through the activity, 
students can feel the importance of   hard work and try to avoid mistakes in their life.   Use the grammar and at the same time practice their listening skill.    
Encourage them to learn from the song and talk about the fire drill they just practiced and make them  know the importance of time, life and money.

Group work: Have a discussion  
What would you do to fight against smog if you were to be the mayor of Shijiazhuang ?  
T: You are part of our city and take your responsibility for our environment. Remember your efforts matter.  
2. Finish the exercise which is a mixture of different types of the subjunctive mood.
