1) To write an introduction of a process of making dishes. 2) To know the culture behind food.

  Remind students to love our food, love our life and love our culture.  Key and

1) To grasp the sequence words and useful phrases or sentences in the process. 
2) To grasp the structure of the process of making a dish.

Methods 
Step 1 (2 min): Lead-in 
- Warming up: Introduce the TV program “A Bite of China”. - Enjoy a video to show students Yunnan Food. Step 2 (3 min): Reading Practice 
-  Use “W&H” questions to know the story of Yunnan Rice Noodles.  
- Ask students to find the answers to the questions about ‘where who why what how’.  
Step 3 (12 min): Passage Analysis 
Read the passage carefully, fill in the blanks and find out the answers to the three questions: when to eat, what to prepare, how to make. Focus on the process of making Yunnan rice noodles and retell the process after learning. Step 4 (5 min): Mind Map 
- After retelling, analyze the structure of a recipe. 
- Watch an interview about delicious food in Nanchang. 
 
 
                    
             
                    
                            Step 5 (10 min): Writing  
- Ask students to write down how to make pork soup cooked with pottery jar or Nanchang Rice Noodles. And add an advertising slogan to let the world know the special food of Nanchang. Step 6 (9 min): Presentation 
- Do the group discussion. First, change the passage and check each other’s writing, correct the mistakes and choose the best article.  - Choose the best advertising slogan. 
- During the show time, each member of the group should come to the front to do his own duty.  
- After one group’s presentation, others discuss the assessment to the group according to the language, performance, ideas, creativity and the reason.  Step 7 (2 min):Emotional Education 
- After the food journey, especially the introduction of Nanchang food, I wish all of the students to love our culture, love our food and love our life! Step 8 (2 min): Homework 
- Write a recipe for your favorite food. 
- If you can, choose to finish the second one: Write an article about the history behind a traditional food in China and how to make it. - Make a conclusion. Speaking Listening Reading  Analysis  Exercises  With multimedia

Teaching reflection: This topic is close to students’ life. It’s easy for them to understand. With the help of multimedia, students’ interest in studying the topic can be aroused easily because the topic is very practical. Emphasize the target language about how to make food through the whole class and help students know that China is a country which not only has a large amount of food, but also has the culture behind those kinds of food. After the class, almost all the students can be proud of who we are.
