一．Teaching Aims 1. Knowledge aim: 

(1)  To master the words to introduce a place : lively ;attractive; friendly ; modern ;lovely ; gorgeous....... 

(2) Students are expected to find out the expressions ,especially the sentence patterns which are beneficial to their writing , such as:This is one of the most attractive places I have been to. 2.Ability aim 

 (1)Reading (Input) :To gain the ability to catch the general and detailed information by reading the Passage. 

 (2)Speaking (Output) :To learn some suitable expressions about how to introduce a city.  3.Emotional aim: 

 (1) Be sure to be civilized (文明的) tourists when we are on a journey  (2)Arouse the awareness of loving our hometown and our country 二．Learning Strategies 

 (1)Students are led to acquire reading skills and learn certain knowledge of Xiamen in the context  (2)Students are motivated to participate actively in classroom activities. 三．Teaching and Learning Methodologies :

    By asking students“If you have enough money and time , which city do you want to travel in  China?And why ?”,the teacher will shall her own dream city with students by enjoy a voice that had been recorded to give her answer. That will be Xiamen --- A  Lively City. Step 2.   Make predictions according to the topic. 

     Students are asked to think about this question “What will be mentioned , when we talk about a city?”

2. Part 3: climate and tourism 

Xiao Li said “They can be a nuisance in the summer. ” 1) Why the tourists can be a nuisance ?

     When we describe a city , we will introduce it like this : 

        ....is located in (坐落于)...This is one of ...cities in China. People ... I feel ...Weather here is amazing, ...What will surprise you is the business district...I 'm sure you will be amazed at the interesting architecture, such as......But my favorite part is the local flavor,.............     You are welcome to come here . I am sure that you will have a good time here. Step6 : Practice           

Recently, your classmate in Xiamen University told you that she planned to go on a journey but she hesitated(猶豫)to decide where to go. You want to invite her to come to your hometown and be her guide . So you have to introduce your hometown vividly(生動地)to her. If she comes, you both will have a good time then . 

Step6 :The teacher will end this lesson with a poem about hometown .        The following are the contents of the poem:

     It is the place where I were born. And I say hello to you with my first  crying.  

     It is the place where I grew up . And I was most curious about you.       It is the place that I once hated. But I didn't realize it was the unique  taste that have companied me for my whole life.  

         It is the place that I meat to leave. But I didn't understand why you always came to my dream again and again. 

     Now, I have grown up and lived in the place that I dreamed . But where are the people I 

loved and the things I was familiar with .
